He has been working in the field of neurosurgery since the age of 21 years, while working as an intern in Pune. It was always his lifelong dream to operate on the brain and spine, and help make people better.
He was a student of Prof. Sunil Pandya, (then the Professor and Head of Neurosurgery at KEM Hospital, Mumbai), where he completed his Mch degree.
During his post graduate studies, he was also avidly interested the field of brain tumours, and published a few papers on this topic while pursuing his Mch degree in neurosurgery.
After completing Mch, he was trained at NIMHANS by Prof. K.V. R. Shastri. He also received neuro-endoscopy training from Prof. Gaab of Germany, and in neuro-navigation techniques at Frankfurt, Germany from Prof. Seifert and Prof. Rabbe. While spending time with Prof. Michael Mayer at Munich, he learnt various philosophies of spinal surgery. He also received training from Prof. Anthony Young of USA in the field of endoscopic spinal surgery. He also received training at The Shri Chitra Institute of Medical Sciences in Trivandrum for Epilepsy surgery.

During his journey as a practising neurosurgeon in Pune, for the last 20 or more years it has been his mission to take brain and spine surgery to the masses. Many people, especially in rural India, are ignorant or unaware of the cause of their illnesses, let alone be aware of the treatment available.
